It is often said that there is 'no need to reinvent the wheel', but following a recent invention that's come to market, this appears to not be the case after all.

The product in question is Loopwheels, a shock-absorbing wheel with a unique, integral suspension system. It was created with the help of an Araldite® composite bonder and has been nominated for the prestigious 'Designs of the Year 2015' sponsored by the Design Museum in the UK.

A toughened epoxy resin system from Huntsman Advanced Materials is being used by the University of Bayreuth's Department of Polymer Engineering, in an on-going research programme analysing the effective use of carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) for cryogenic liquid hydrogen storage systems within aerospace applications.

Vehicle manufacturers have been set some ambitious targets to significantly reduce carbon emissions to 95g CO2/km on the sale of all new cars by 2020. Here, Laurent Pourcheron, Marketing Manager for Adhesives at Huntsman Advanced Materials looks at how structural adhesives can help the automotive industry to successfully integrate the latest lightweight materials and comply with future environmental legislation.

Araldite® 2031 epoxy adhesive has been specified by Odyssey Motorcycles for use in the custom-build process on the Harley-Davidson Super Sport Roadster (SSR) Breakout motorbike.

Driven by rising road congestion, demand for mobility and concerns over climate change, in Europe considerable emphasis is now being placed on developing rail as a key transport mode by promoting step-change innovations for passenger rolling stock, freight transport and rail infrastructure.

Showcasing the value that Araldite® structural adhesives offer to performance sports applications, the Norma M20 FC prototype sports car is building up an impressive record of podium successes in the 2014 V de V Proto Endurance Challenge Series.
